Our public lands are at stake, and it’s going to take all of us to defend them.
Â
Join Patagonia Santa Cruz, Protect Our Winters, and the Santa Cruz community for an evening of drinks, prizes, good conversation, and civic action. We’ll kick things off with a happy hour on the deck alongside local sustainability nonprofits, then move inside for a panel discussion, trivia, and hands-on ways you can protect the outdoors just by sharing your love for it.
Â
Featured speaker Dillon Osleger, pro mountain biker and author of Trail Work: Restoring the Paths and Stories of America's Public Lands, will share what the forgotten trails of the American West tell us about how we got here, and what it'll take to protect what's left. He'll be joined by marine scientist and POW Science Ambassador Shawnee Traylor, PhD for a conversation about public lands, our local coastline, and how to show up for the places you love. Matt Koller, Surfrider California's offshore drilling campaign manager, will also be in conversation with Dillon and Shawnee. Matt leads Surfrider's campaign to prevent new offshore drilling off California's coast. He works across the federal and state policy landscape, partnering with Surfrider chapters, coalition partners, businesses, Tribal governments, and coastal communities to advance science-based policies and strategic advocacy efforts that protect California's coast and ocean.Â
Â
Whether you've been an advocate for years or not sure where to start, there's a place for you here.
Â
Come at 5 PM for the happy hour or join us at 6:30 PM for the program. Either way, bring a friend. RSVP required.
